Langkah Syabas Beach Resort’s journey began in 1994 when founder Peter Cantwell was searching for a piece of land to build a house. While working in Beaufort, he frequently traveled along the same road that the resort now occupies, and during one of these trips, he stumbled upon this pristine piece of paradise. However, upon preparing to build his home, he was informed that the land was designated for tourism development. This led him to shift his vision towards creating a resort that would blend Australian hospitality with Sabah’s natural beauty. What started as a modest plan has grown into an expansive resort featuring 25 comfortable chalets and two swimming pools.

Our story is enriched by the partnership of Peter and his wife, Liza Tsen, whose Sino-Kadazan heritage has brought an authentic cultural dimension to our resort experience. This unique fusion of Australian and Sino-Kadazan hospitality creates an atmosphere unlike any other in Sabah.
